INTRODUCTING CCTV TO YOUR PREMISES:-

Cameras

There are many different types and styles of camera on the market, including monochrome (black and white), colour, fixed dome cameras, bullet cameras, vandal resistant cameras, and PTZ (pan, tilt and zoom).  All of these cameras can be viewed on a monitor or recorded onto a DVR (digital video recorder) unit, for viewing the images at a later date.

DVR

This is a recording device that takes the images from your cameras and stores them on to its internal memory (HDD) so that they can be viewed at a later date.  As well as recording the images, a DVR can also back up the recorded data onto a DVD memory stick or onto a computer, via IP.

PTZ

PTZ (pan, tilt and zoom) cameras may also be an option for your viewing preferences.  This is usually the case when you need to view multiple areas from the same position.  A PTZ camera can be controlled by a keyboard or DVR device from either an on site or off site position.

Monitors

A monitor is whree you will view the cameras on the system.  Most monitors are TFT or LCD displays, where you can view a single camera or multiple cameras simultaneously.  Monitors are available in a wide range of sizes, from 15" to 42", and systems can include many monitors running all running at the same time.

IP Cameras

IP cameras are cameras which can be connected to a data point on your network and can then be viewed by a PC on the same network.  Images can also be sent off site (eg: for head office to view what has happened on one site).  One of the many benefits of IP cameras is that most work places already have a data network in place. It is then relatively straightforward to connect new cameras onto a system via the nearest network point, avoiding the need  to install additional cables.
